Scavenger, Repurpose Queen, Free-Spirited Painter
Mary Daly
Mary founded Nug & Bug in a 250-year-old farmhouse barn in Granby CT in 2010 and moved it to The Shops at Marlborough Barn in 2016. Here customers are free to peruse a large number of collectibles, antiques, and the signature Refurbiture Designs™ at their leisure. Mary and her team members Lynn and Paul Moreau are the creative talent behind many unique upcycled, reclaimed, refurbished designs you won't find anywhere else.
Mary has been painting furniture and frames and stuff for more than 20 years. Her popular Refurbiture Design™ pieces often have a sense of humor as well as practicality. And color. She loves color. Oh, and non-toxic paint with low or no vocs. These days she uses mainly Dixie Belle chalk paint, which you can also buy at the Shops at Marlborough Barn if you're one of those artsy do-it-yourselfers we often meet scoping out the goodies at the store.
If you'd like a "how to" tutorial, contact Mary and ask her to put you on the Interested List. If enough people sign up, she'll contact you to figure out the best time for a class.
You'll find examples of Mary's painted wares on our Oldies But Goodies page and our Refurbiture Design™ page. If there's anything for sale in the store right now, that will be on our For Sale Today page. If you see something you like that's no longer for sale, feel free to ask Mary about a custom paint job for something you already have or something we have in inventory but haven't painted yet.
.If you have any questions, want to place something painted on hold, or want to discuss a custom project, you can use the Contact Us page to call or (preferably) email Mary.
